Backyard Burning

Are you in an area which allows outdoor burning? Check this map(PDF-870K).

General outdoor and land clearing burning is prohibited throughout most of the county's cities and urban areas. To determine if you are in an area where you can burn contact the Southwest Washington Air Pollution Authority at (360) 574-3058.

Permits for general backyard burning and land clearing burning - in areas where burning is allowed - are issued through the Clark County Fire Marshal's office.

Permits for small open burning fires (debris pile size less than 10 feet in any dimension) can be obtained below:

Burning permits for general land clearing and for debris piles in excess of 10 feet in any dimension can be obtained at the Customer Service Center located at 1300 Franklin Street in downtown Vancouver, at the Battle Ground Service Center located at 701 East Main Street in Battle Ground, and at the Fire Marshal's Office located at 505 NW 179th Street in Ridgefield.

There is a $127.00 fee for land clearing and large debris pile permits.
